Claus Eppenstein, founder of Savana Comunicações, passed away this week in Rio de Janerio, Brazil following a long illness. Savana has been a foundational player in the Brazilian broadcast market since its founding in 1983, initially leveraging Claus’ expertise in RF transmission before expanding into other broadcast technology. Clear-Com® and Savana found each other soon after and have been working closely together to provide critical communication solutions to our customers all over Brazil. During those initial years, Claus and Clear-Com’s Peter Giddings recognized a passion for communications engineering at TV Globo and ever since Savana has cultivated a very close collaboration between customer, distributor, and manufacturer that has resulted in one of the most sophisticated communications workflows in the world across TV Globo’s various offices and entities. Savana Comunicações is in good hands with its current management team and their ongoing success is a tribute to Claus’ vision and teamwork-focused mindset. Everyone at Clear-Com joins with all our close friends in Brazil in recognizing the important role Claus played in making Brazil the international broadcast powerhouse that it is. Farewell friend!
