The company will showcase a range of wireless solutions, including a sneak peek of a new addition to their offering.

Clear-Com® returns as a sponsor of the MIX Sound for Film and Television event on October 24th at the Sony Pictures production studio lot. The company will showcase a range of wireless and IP-based comms solutions, including the DX Series WH220, a favorite of many camera operators, as well as the LQ® Series IP interfaces and the popular Agent-IC® mobile app, available for iOS or Android devices. The company will also demonstrate a brand-new addition to its wireless offering, providing a sneak peek of things to come.

While camera operators have long utilized Clear-Com’s DX Series wireless systems, the pandemic has highlighted the importance of a robust voice communications system for nearly all members of the production team. During the height of the pandemic, team members wanted to remain physically distanced, and at some points were working in a zoned production approach, necessitating a full-duplex intercom system for effective voice communication. Additionally, hybrid workflows became more common with key positions contributing remotely, underscoring the need for an IP-based comms system.

While pandemic restrictions have eased, leading productions are recognizing that comms on set saves time and helps to eliminate mistakes that are the result of miscommunication. For big-budget productions, time on set equates to budget, and an effective comms system is a relatively easy way to mitigate time-consuming mistakes.

“It’s been great to see this group of people, who previously only thought comms were needed in very select instances, now embracing the idea of having it be an integral part of the entire production set,” comments Chris Willis, Senior VP of Sales for Clear-Com. “Moreover, camera operators need both hands for effective camera operation, so a hands-free full-duplex system is a real benefit to them. Once people realize how easy our systems make it to talk to exactly the right people at any time, they don’t want to go back!”
