Desktop Unit Enables User Control of Eclipse Digital Matrix Intercom System

London, September 4, 2008 – Clear-Com® Communication Systems, a Vitec Group brand, at PLASA 2008 (Stand L38) is exhibiting the V-Series Desktop unit, bringing control of its Eclipse® Digital Matrix intercom system to the user’s fingertips. Part of the Clear-Com family of V-Series panel products, the V-Series Desktop can sit on a tabletop or be mounted on a wall for quick access and increased convenience during all types of live performances.

The desktop unit, complete with a low-profile loudspeaker and gooseneck microphone, is designed with the user’s needs in mind. Major features include 12 keys with eight shift pages; a clear, bright graphical display depicting 10 international characters, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian, for greater flexibility in the naming of sources and destinations; and a menu button that provides access to assignment and set-up options. Each of the keys, including one dedicated for answer-reply, has individual audio level control.

“The new V-Series Desktop offers the same audio quality our customers have come to expect from all of our user panels and extends it to the desktop for portability and convenience,” says Jake Dodson, Vice President of Product Management, Clear-Com. “Since it is not rack-mounted, it can be easily moved throughout the facility, all with the best, most intuitive display in the industry. Whether it’s a stage manager giving directions to actors during a dress rehearsal, a sound engineer working in an audio booth at a concert or a crew member handling lighting for a theater production, V-Series is designed to put the user in control with the touch of a finger for easy, reliable and seamless communication.”

All panels in the V-Series line feature Clear-Com’s “Listen Again” technology, which employs digital audio memory to allow the user to replay received incoming calls, aiding communication in noisy and demanding environments, as is common in the live performance arena. Panel connection choices include Cat 5, coaxial, AES3, twisted pair, IP and other options.

Advanced digital signaling processing (DSP) gives the operator increased control over the panel’s audio, including routing, EQ, mic limiting, headset sidetone, as well as intelligent dimming and local IFBs. Panel keys offer individual mix level control, allowing users to set personal audio levels to suit individual workflows. The V-Series Desktop has been designed to provide producer/commentator dual operation with stereo monitoring, binaural headset listening, cough switching and local intelligent IFB control/loudspeaker dimming, giving users increased control over their audio environments.
