Equipment rental powerhouse to supply wireless intercom system for top live events
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, NOVEMBER 30, 2009 - Clear-Com® Communication Systems, a Vitec Group brand, proudly announces the addition of its Tempest®2400 four-channel wireless intercom system to the equipment arsenal at Oasis Stage Werks, a top rental house servicing the needs of numerous production teams working on high-level live entertainment, music, sports and political events. Oasis Stage Werks was impressed with Tempest2400’s ease-of-use and configuration, a patented RF scheme making it fundamentally resistant to interference from other wireless devices and the system’s ability to maintain a clear signal far away from the base station.
Oasis Stage Werks discovered Tempest2400’s benefits while assisting one of its customers on a concert series at the University of Utah’s Red Butte Garden and Arboretum. Due to environmental considerations, the customer was not permitted to run wires through much of the venue, necessitating a wireless intercom system capable of performing well when located some distance from the base station. According to Oasis Stage Werks Production Manager John Lopez, Tempest2400 was more than up to the task.
“We were 1,500 feet away [from the Red Butte Garden and Arboretum] and the system worked flawlessly,” recalls Lopez. “The audio quality was outstanding and the clarity was amazing. Clear-Com has always been on the cutting edge of intercom technology, and the Tempest2400 has kept with this tradition. With the wide variety of performances we deal with - everything from a Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina concert or the Park City Jazz Festival to political conventions and events - Tempest gives us the ability to go into any situation knowing we have a system that works.”
Clear-Com developed Tempest2400 with complete reliability in mind. The system features state-of-the-art 2xTX Transmission Voice Data Redundancy, which sends each packet of audio data twice on different frequencies, and through different antennas, ensuring uninterrupted audio communications. In addition, Tempest2400’s RF scheme utilizes Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) in conjunction with TDMA technology, adding a strong level of protection against interference, no matter how crowded the RF environment.
As time is often of the essence when it comes to live productions, Tempest2400 is also built for maximum ease-of-use and quick, simple configuration. Its 2.4 GHz Remote Antenna Transceiver unit can be plugged into the base station via CAT-5e cable up to 1,500 feet away, allowing the Tempest2400 to easily provide intercom functions over an extensive area. Additional area coverage can be handled by the Tempest directional antenna. In addition, once registered to a base station, a Tempest2400 beltstation needs no further configuration and roams freely within a single coverage area.
All Tempest2400 packages come with T-Desk Software, a PC-based desktop application for monitoring and managing the equipment in a wireless network. T-Desk simplifies the configuration and management process of critical base station and beltpack settings by allowing remote location programming via a LAN connection.
“We’re thrilled that such a prestigious rental outfit as Oasis Stage Werks has put its trust in Tempest2400 for its customers’ wireless intercom needs,” says Chris Barry, Product Manager, Clear-Com Communication Systems. “We designed Tempest2400 to ensure maximum reliability and clarity in even the most crowded RF environments, and we’re gratified that Oasis Stage Werks and their customers have experienced these capabilities and the production advantages they provide.”
Each Tempest2400 base station supports up to five full-duplex, four-audio-channel digital wireless beltpacks; by stacking up to 10 base stations together, 50 independent, full-duplex wireless beltpacks can operate together in a single system.
