Clear-Com®, a Vitec Group brand, announces a number of upgrades to its CellCom Digital Wireless Intercom System, including a software upgrade, improved electronics with internal silent vibrator alert and a new multi-way battery charger. With the release of version 1.5.6 of CellCom software, users will benefit from improvements in the software that make it easy to restore factory default settings, a “2 tap” talk option, and a menu lockout feature that keeps a user from accidentally changing a configuration set by an intercom supervisor.

Version 1.5.6 will be delivered installed on new CellCom beltpack purchases, and is available for installation on existing CellCom units as a purchasable upgrade. The software is installed from a PC via a serial connection to the beltpack.

Changes to the internal mechanical construction of the CellCom beltpack make the unit even more rugged to survive the rigors of outside broadcast production.

The addition of the new CEL-FS-CHRGR Five-Way Charger will allow CellCom beltpack users to quickly charge up to five battery clips at the same time. Where previously the beltpack units had to be connected to a charger, CellCom users can now swap battery clips for minimum down-time, allowing the beltpack to remain in service continuously on long productions.

CellCom is a unique wireless headset product that blends digital matrix technology with a locally distributed wireless network, operating in the license-free 1.9 GHz band. Because the beltpack automatically switches to the strongest antenna channel, like a cell phone, as the user roams over a production venue, CellCom frees the user to walk down halls, between studios and even buildings, remaining in constant contact on headset.

CellCom upgrades are available through local distributors or the Clear-Com sales office.
