ALAMEDA, USA – March 27, 2025 – Abilene Christian University (ACU) has transformed its student-led sports and broadcast production capabilities with new intercom solutions from Clear-Com®. The integration of Eclipse® HX Digital Matrix, FreeSpeak® Digital Wireless Intercom, and Agent-IC® mobile app allows people to communicate across multiple campus venues, ensuring a professional-grade experience for students, staff, and production crews.
ACU’s system, designed and managed by industry expert and ACU alumnus Ben Mankin, Founder and Owner of Mankin Media, enables fluid communication between production teams as they transition between locations, including the football stadium, baseball stadium, basketball arena, and TV studio. With 10 IP transceivers deployed across five stadiums, student operators can move freely while maintaining communication over the university’s dedicated fiber network.
“At ACU, our student production teams need a system that can handle dynamic, multi-venue coverage without interruption,” said Ben Mankin. “Clear-Com just works magically everywhere over dedicated fiber from the central control room to each venue.”
The university’s intercom infrastructure includes an Eclipse HX Digital Matrix Frame with E-IPA and Dante™ interface cards, 15 FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks, multiple V-Series Iris™ panels, Yamaha audio consoles, and Studio Technologies announcer boxes. The addition of Agent-IC licenses further extends communication to mobile devices, giving remote staff and faculty the ability to coordinate with on-site teams.
“Clear-Com is proud to support ACU’s commitment to hands-on learning and professional-grade production experience for its students,” said Clear-Com. “Our solutions make it possible for universities like ACU to create real-world training environments that prepare students for careers in media production and live event broadcasting.”
