Connected Sports Campus

Connected Sports Campus

Application Description

The concept of a Clear-Com Connected Sports Campus™, starts with an understanding that underlying any media/television production is the need for intercom communications. Many of the unique challenges which college and universities face begin after placing the control room somewhere on campus and, once situated, how to connect to the many other sports venues that may be important to the overall ongoing broadcasts. The Clear-Com Connected Sports Campus concept provides various solutions for connecting purpose-built venues across campus or portable setups, such as fly-packs, which can be positioned as needed at fields or venues on gameday that are integrated with modern intercom technology and standard network infrastructures.

Application Notes

Designed for the heart of the broadcast center, the Arcadia Central Station serves as the unified bridge integrating IP-based products, like the FreeSpeak II Wireless Intercom and networked wired HelixNet Digital Partyline, as well as Dante audio. The Arcadia connects camera CCU via 4-wire connections. FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks and transceivers are used in the studio associated with the control room.

Permanent installations are intercom systems that are installed at the venue site and are only used at that sports venue. These systems can be configured to connect back to the control room as a part of the Connected Campus network, or can even be used independently. Permanent installations can include FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks and transceivers, and HelixNet IP wired beltpacks or user stations and connect back to the control room using the school LAN, WAN or Internet.

Fly-packs are portable systems that consist of all the necessary gear to monitor, switch and transport audio and video commonly used to connect the control room to the various sports venues and field local production elements. A wireless system is deployed as necessary. Announcers typically use Dante based commentary units. The Fly-Pack includes an LQ network interface connected to the school WAN.
