Clear-Com Presents EHX 8.0 (Eclipse HX Configuration Software) at IBC 2014

9/11/2014

New version further extends the capabilities of the matrix comms for IP communications

At IBC 2014 Clear-Com® will present EHX 8.0, the latest version of the configuration software for the Eclipse HX digital matrix intercom systems. The new version enables standard IP-connected V-Series panels to operate both as fully functional intercom keypanels and as multi-channel audio gateways with no requirement for additional hardware or software licenses. This innovative software feature extends the Eclipse HX’s existing capability to provide remote matrix intercom connectivity over diverse IP infrastructure at no additional cost, making audio and intercom connectivity for applications such as OBs and live events more cost-effective.

The new software allows V-Series operator panels to become multi-functional, 2-in-1 devices for IP communications, firstly as an intercom panel with a built-in IP interface and secondly as an IP audio gateway, routing two additional audio channels to/from its Eclipse-HX Matrix. It reduces direct equipment costs as a single unit, provides both intercom and audio distribution, and simplifies installation and operation since only one device needs to be set up and configured.

Built-in multi-channel Audio and Ethernet/IP interface are supplied as standard on all VSeries panels. Each panel supports up to 3x audio channels, typically 1x Intercom with 2x Auxiliary audio channels per panel. All channels are G.722 encoded to provide 7 KHz audio bandwidth audio, and are fully integrated into the V-Series Audio mixer. All channels provide Clear-Com’s full range of intercom functions including VOX detection, VOX gating, I/O level adjustment, IFB and Logic Control, while both auxiliary channels have associated GPIO’s for Partyline and 2-way radio interfacing.

Peter Stallard, Senior Product Manager, Clear-Com, said, “As the requirement for IP connectivity continues to grow, the EHX 8.0 release is ideal for enabling broadcasters to extend audio and intercom capability while improving reliability, reducing set-up time and saving money.”
